Jaipur Highway Accident: LPG Tanker Collision Leaves 14 Dead, Over 28 Injured
Jaipur Highway Accident: A tragic accident occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway early Friday morning when an LPG tanker collided with a truck near Bhankrota on Ajmer Road. The impact of the collision caused a gas leak, which quickly ignited and led to a massive fire, resulting in the deaths of 14 people and injuries to over 28 others.
The fire spread rapidly, engulfing 37 nearby vehicles, including buses, cars, bikes, auto-rickshaws, and trucks. Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with thick black smoke rising into the sky and visible from nearly a kilometer away. Some survivors recalled seeing a man with severe burns running and crying for help amid the chaos.
The accident took place around 5:30 AM, and the intensity of the fire was so severe that vehicles on both sides of the highway were affected. Emergency services responded swiftly, with over 25 ambulances arriving at the scene to transport the injured to SMS Hospital in Jaipur for treatment.
It took several hours for rescue teams to extinguish the fire and clear the damaged vehicles from the highway. The road was finally reopened to traffic later in the evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and Rs. 50,000 for those injured. He also assured ongoing support from the state government for the victims and their families.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision, as the incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and the transportation of hazardous materials.
