The Guwahati Police registered an FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the legal action against them.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police also visited the Khar studio where the show was recorded to gather further evidence for their investigation.
Ranveer Allahbadia Issues Public Apology
Amid mounting criticism, Ranveer Allahbadia released a public apology, admitting that his comment was inappropriate and lacked humor.
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry,” he stated in a video posted online.
He further acknowledged his lapse in judgment and emphasized that he never intended to disrespect families or promote offensive content.
Samay Raina’s Silence on the Controversy
While Ranveer Allahbadia addressed the issue, Samay Raina has remained silent. Currently on his Unfiltered: North America Tour 2025, Raina has not commented on the controversy. Instead, he shared pictures from his San Jose show, making no reference to the ongoing backlash.
