On Saturday evening, three individuals shot and killed the former Maharashtra minister and leader of Ajit Pawar’s NCP party. Baba Siddique, who was 66 years old, was shot in the stomach and chest. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital, but the injuries were so severe that the doctors could not save him, and he passed away.

So far, two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting, and their names have been revealed as Karnail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap. The police have reported that during questioning, both admitted to working for Lawrence Bishnoi and being part of his gang. They had been monitoring Baba Siddique’s every movement for the past month, noting where he went and when he returned.

Baba Siddique was shot by three men around 9:30 PM outside his office in Bandra East, where his son Zeeshan Siddique also works.

At the time of the attack, Baba Siddique was celebrating Dussehra by lighting firecrackers. The three men, with handkerchiefs covering their faces, approached him and fired three rounds from a 9.9 mm pistol. One of the bullets struck him in the chest, causing him to collapse instantly.

After shooting him in the chest, one of the assailants fired at the windshield of Baba Siddique’s car, likely to confirm the multiple shots.

Of the two arrested individuals, one is from Haryana, and the other is from Uttar Pradesh. The police are still searching for the third suspect, who remains at large.

According to a senior doctor at Lilavati Hospital, where Baba Siddique was admitted after being shot, the blood loss was too severe, and despite their efforts, they could not save him. His death was declared at 11:27 PM on Saturday night, after which his body was shifted to Cooper Hospital.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Lilavati Hospital, where Baba Siddique had been admitted.
