- Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj was widely recognized as the most respected saint among the Digambar Jain community passes away at the age of 77.
The well-known Jain spiritual leader, Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, passed away on Sunday morning at Chandragiri Teerth in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his condolences on X (formerly Twitter), expressing deep sympathy for the loss of the revered Jain seer.
Modi’s message on X read, “My thoughts and prayers are with the countless devotees of Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji. He will be remembered by the coming generations for his invaluable contributions to society, especially his efforts towards spiritual enlightenment, poverty alleviation, healthcare, education, and more.”
The prime minister also reflected on his personal connection with Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj, stating, “I have been blessed to receive his guidance for years. I fondly recall my visit to the Chandragiri Jain Mandir in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, last year, where I had the privilege of spending time with Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji and receiving his blessings.
