Mamata Banerjee Injured in Home Fall, Returns from Hospital

Mamata Banerjee Injured at Home: According to Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and the Trinamul all-India general secretary, Mamata had to receive four stitches due to her injury. He mentioned that she is currently in better condition and is expected to recover soon. Abhishek Banerjee made these remarks as he left the SSKM Hospital with his aunt, who was being taken to her residence in Kalighat.

On Thursday evening, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was admitted to the hospital after sustaining a forehead injury, presumably from a fall at her home. By 9:45 pm, she was discharged, her forehead bandaged after receiving multiple stitches.

Although the wound was deep, tests conducted at the SSKM Hospital’s Woodburn ward showed no serious damage. Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata’s nephew and Trinamul all-India general secretary, confirmed her condition, stating, “Four stitches had to be made. She is better now and will improve soon,” as they left for her residence in Kalighat.

Abhishek was present at Mamata’s residence when the incident occurred, though the exact cause of her fall remains unclear. It appears Mamata was walking on the premises of her Kalighat residence at the time.

An image of Mamata with a forehead wound was shared on the party’s official handle. Doctors at the SSKM Hospital reported that although she was dazed, she could communicate with them.

Various political figures, including Vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar, Congress leaders Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Shashi Tharoor, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and BJP leader Sukanto Mazumdar, wished her a speedy recovery.

Mamata is expected to rest at home for the next few days until she fully recovers and resumes her duties for the Trinamul’s Lok Sabha poll campaign.

This isn’t the first time Mamata has faced health issues; before the 2021 Assembly polls, she fractured her leg while campaigning in Nandigram, a constituency from which she ultimately lost.
