Cricketer Mohammed Shami, representing India, carried out a rescue operation for an individual whose car had plunged off a hilly road near Nainital. The standout performer in India’s 2023 World Cup journey, Shami utilized social media to communicate this incident to his fans, recounting how the person’s car veered off the road right in front of his own vehicle.
“Luckily, he’s been given a second lease on life. His car tumbled down the hill road near Nainital, right in front of ours. We safely rescued him,” Shami captioned the Instagram video he posted.
Shami is set to stage a comeback during the South Africa tour commencing on December 10. While his participation in the Test series is confirmed, there is no official statement regarding his future in T20Is. The seasoned pacer has been absent from T20Is since the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.
Mohammed Shami showcased his brilliance in the 2023 World Cup, emerging as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with an impressive haul of 24 wickets in just seven matches. Despite being benched for four games initially, he earned his place in the playing XI after Hardik Pandya’s withdrawal from the ICC event.
Shami commenced his World Cup journey with a five-wicket haul against New Zealand and followed it up with a four-wicket performance against England. He secured his second five-wicket haul of the tournament in the match against Sri Lanka.
In the semi-final against New Zealand, Shami etched his name in history by recording the best-ever bowling figures by an Indian. He dismissed seven batsmen in the crucial knockout game. Unfortunately, India faced defeat against Australia in the final.
