Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma blessed with baby Boy: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma happily shared the news of their newest family member, a baby boy. According to their joint announcement on Instagram, their son was born on February 15, 2024, and they named him Akaay.
“We’re overjoyed to welcome our baby boy Akaay into the world on February 15th. We’re grateful for your blessings and good wishes during this special time in our lives. Please respect our privacy,” they wrote.

Their first child, a daughter named Vaamika, was born earlier. Vaamika, a name with roots in Hindu mythology, represents an aspect of the goddess Durga. Despite its rareness in the past, Vaamika’s popularity has surged in recent years.
Now, with Akaay’s arrival, the couple has once again sparked curiosity with their choice of name. Virat and Anushka, who married in 2017, kept their second pregnancy private.
Virat Kohli had withdrawn from the ongoing Test series against England for personal reasons. India currently leads the five-match series 2-1.
Meaning of Akaay
Although Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli haven’t disclosed the inspiration behind the name Akaay, it holds significant meaning. Akaay, derived from the Hindi word ‘kaya’ for body, suggests a state beyond physical existence.
In Sanskrit, it denotes incorporeal or without a body.
Furthermore, Akaay carries diverse connotations. It can symbolize the flame of a funeral pyre or a dwelling place. Intriguingly, the name also holds a Turkish association, where ‘Akaay’ signifies a radiant moon.

Former South African captain AB de Villiers recently disclosed on his official YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka were expecting their second child. De Villiers extended an apology to Kohli, acknowledging an oversight in a previous video.
